6–8 September 2016 (Helsinki) A Couple of Little Things
Food Camp is organising one of its Design events for Helsinki Design Week this September.
We want to highlight the connection between food and design and have invited Dutch eating designer Marije Vogelzang for her first visit to Finland. Marije has created important, thought-provoking art installations on the subject of eating around the world. We are proud to have the opportunity to welcome her to Finland.
Eating designer Marije Vogelzang’s work to go on show in Helsinki
Marije Vogelzang, a Dutch pioneer in eating design, is creating a unique art installation entitled A Couple of Little Things in cooperation with Food Camp Finland and Olo Restaurant.
The interactive artwork will be part of the programme of Helsinki Design Week on 6–8 September 2016.
Eating designer Marije Vogelzang derives inspiration from the social and cultural aspects of eating.
Her thought-provoking installations have been shown at venues around the world.
The underlying theme of A Couple of Little Things is war children of the Second World War. The installation is a commentary on refugee crises and the anguish and uncertainty faced by people in today’s world, and the way small acts of humanity can make a difference.
For the last fifteen years, Marije Vogelzang has been creating interactive works that are reminiscent of performance art. According to Vogelzang, her projects are first and foremost about people. She uses food and eating as narrative and interactive devices to provoke attention, interest and enjoyment.
